Our work to restore bumblebee habitats on our croft will stabilise the current population of Common Carders, Moss Carders and White Tailed Bumblebee, and attract some more of the most rare like the Great Yellow Bumblebee.
We will be using species like hawthorn, hazel and willow to protect our lazy beds from livestock and as a windbreak.
We will be planting about 20000 trees and shrubs on the acreage we have over the next few years. They will all be native species which are suitable to the terrain and do not damage the peat stores where each cubic metre sequesters 100KG of CO2.
We use your donations to mark an area sponsored by your company to plant trees, hedges or protect bumble bees as part of your Corporate social responsibility pledges for the year. This will be commemorated by a certificate and a blog post and the legacy will last beyond our lifetimes.
